Elgin Play Day

We weeded the flower bed, and planted bulbs donated to us by Stargazer. The kids worked hard and did such a great job! Then we played some games and made stepping stones. We also displayed our playground plan, and got signatures on a beach ball to send in to Congress. We also recieved some donations toward the new structure we hope to earn enough grants and donations to get part or all of it for next spring/summer! We also have more fundraising projects comming up!

The stepping stones turned out very cute! We put them in by the benches where we planted daffodil bulbs...can't wait for spring now!

We had a great turn out today! Over 20 kids, and several parents came. We weeded the flower bed, and planted 100 daffodil bulbs that were donated to us by Stargazer-a local nursery. The kids played a hula hoop game, then we decorated the stepping stones we had mixed and poured into plastic planter trays about a half hour before to set enough for imprints. They used a lot of glitter! When they set in a couple of days we will put them out in the flower bed by the benches. The kids also played tug of war, and used sidewalk chalk to make hopscotch and 4 square games which they played at the end. The kids all had a blast, and we hope to do something again! Everyone was also excited for our new play structure plan, and we had a donation jar out that we made a few dollars from, which isn;t much, but its a start. We even signed a beach ball to send in to you at kaboom for congress. Thank you Kaboom!

We decorated stepping stones (we mixed quickrete and poured into plastic planter trays a half hour before). The kids used cookie cutters, glitter, and also wrote in the concrete...mostly glitter. When they set in a couple of days we will put them in the park! (the caution tape in the background is for the new wheelchair ramp WC Construction just put in, donated to us).
