Why are you planning a Play Day for your community?
I think play is important. So many children either watch TV all day, or sit in front of computer playing games. Our play day we even encouraged the parents to play along. I think this helps to bring the play back home.
How would you use a grant to improve your playspace?
We are in the process of remodeling our building that is over 70 years old. We can't ask tax payers to pay for a new playground while we build, but a grant could go a long way in starting to improve the outside while we improve the inside of our community center.
How would improvements of your playspace impact your community?
We are a community with many young children as well as senior citizens. Any time we make an improvement it helps to keep them active which also helps to keep them healthy. With a safe environment, parents feel comfortable about sending their children outdoors to play and seniors feel confident to leave their homes and keep up a social life.
